New Year: Shun Greed, Embrace Integrity – Ooni Tells Nigerians

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has charged Nigerians to shun any temptations that could lead to covetousness, stressing the need to embrace hard work and integrity.

The monarch, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Moses Olafare, tasked Nigerians to uphold the integrity of hard work, compliance with due process and the rule of law devoid of nugatory emotional sentiments irrespective of good intentions.

He said 2025 is a year of anticipated growth and prosperity under the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu, hence, the need to take advantage of the opportunity the new year would present.

Ooni also charged leaders in politics, civil service and the private sector to prioritise the welfare of the masses and employees, stressing the importance of fostering a supportive environment for employees and underscoring that leadership entails responsibility for the well-being of others.

“Let us not allow covetousness to destroy the wealth of our nation. Think about your staff, manage them well, and do not make life difficult for them”, he said.

He added that as 2025 promises opportunities to address the challenges Nigerians have faced in the past 18 months, unity and selflessness will be critical in building a prosperous and peaceful nation.

While acknowledging the sacrifices made by Nigerians, the revered monarch expressed confidence that their patience would yield dividends in the coming year.
