Court Sentences Offa Bank Robbery Suspects to Death By Hanging
Justice Haleema Salman of the Kwara State High Court has sentenced 5 suspects in the April 5th, 2018 Offa Bank robbery incident to death by hanging.
The suspects were convicted on charges of conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery, including illegal possession of firearms.
Six suspects, a Policeman identified as Michael Adikwu (now deceased), Ayoade Akinnibosun, Azeez Salahudeen, Niyi Ogundiran, Ibikunle Ogunleye and Adeola Abraham, were arrested in connection with the bloody Bank robbery incident on the 5th of April, 2018 in Offa, Kwara State.
Delivering judgment, Justice Haleema Salman found the accused persons guilty of all the count charges and sentenced them accordingly.
The Court held that the 5 convicts had no licence to carry fire arms and sentenced them to 3 years imprisonment on that charge.
On culpable homicide and armed robbery, the Court found them guilty and sentenced them to death by hanging.
Lead Defence Counsel, Mathias Emeribe was not in Court at the sentencing, but one of the Defence Counsel told ait.live that the judgment was expected and will be appealed.
