Maritime Security: Nigerian Navy Reaffirms Commitment after rigorous training for course 8 Naval warfare senior officers

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s dedication to addressing the growing threats within Nigeria’s maritime domain which disrupts trade and economic stability.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of Naval Warfare Course 8 held at the Eastern Naval Command, Calabar, Vice Admiral Ogalla noted that these threats pose significant challenges to economic prosperity, emphasizing the need for robust, multidimensional security efforts to safeguard the nation’s waters.

Twenty-four senior military officers, including commanders from the Nigerian Navy, the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force and officers from the Navies of Ghana, Cameroon, and Guinea-Bissau, have graduated and earned the titles of Fellows of the Naval War College of Nigeria, after 32 weeks of rigorous training and international study tour to Pakistan.

The Chief of Naval Staff urged the graduates to apply their knowledge to enhance operations and be ambassadors of the College, while highlighting the college’s role in equipping commanders to address maritime security threats.

Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, Commandant of the Naval War College of Nigeria, highlighted the transformative impacts of strategic training partnerships with institutions domestically and internationally.

He noted that the collaborations have significantly enriched the curriculum and enhanced the quality of education, ensuring that participants received thorough grounding in maritime warfare.

The Naval War College of Nigeria also demonstrated its commitment to community engagement by hosting a graduation outreach at the state children’s home, complemented by a football match between Course 8 participants and the College’s staff, along with a graduation lecture.
