Kaduna PDP Elects Former Commissioner As Chairman

A former commissioner of water Resources in Kaduna,  Edward Masha has been elected as the new chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

He scored a total of 2, 123 votes to defeat his closest rival,  Danjuma Sariki who polled 250  votes.

Masha emerged as the new Kaduna  PDP chairman during a state congress held on Saturday at the trade fair international complex, which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the party’s national officers.

A former Commissioner of Information in Kaduna State,  Saidu Adamu was elected unopposed as the PDP  state secretary, while Godiya Lolo emerged as the PDP women Leader after scoring a total of 2,102 votes.

Also elected as the PDP state Publicity Secretary,  is a former member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly,  Honourable Maria Dogo who scored 1, 359 votes to defeat her closest rival,  Nuhu Makama who scored 525 votes.

The immediate past youth leader, Aliyu Bello emerged as the financial secretary,  while Barrister Khalid Khalid was elected as the party’s state legal adviser.

Announcing the results on Sunday,  the Returning Officer for the congress,  Tanko Beiji,  said a total of 2, 268 delegates were accredited.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of other elected officials,  the new PDP chairman,  Masha,  promised to run an inclusive leadership during his tenure while promising to operate an open-door policy.

He also assured the lead the PDP to victory in the forthcoming Local Government Election scheduled for October.

“We would reach out to our members, reconcile everybody, and create an atmosphere that everybody would be carried along.

“We would accommodate. We are coming on board at this time to ensure success of our party at the Local Government election ”

The outgoing Kaduna State PDP Chairman, Hassan Hyet called on all members of the party to give the new leadership maximum support for the party to return to its former glory.

He also said they must return to winning ways, stressing that all must work towards consolidating the previous victory of three Senators, 10 House of Representatives seats, and 13 House of Assembly Members in the next month’s local government polls.
