Ogun State Government, in partnership with the Federal Government, has launched the flag-off ceremony of inputs redemption under the National Agricultural Growth Scheme – Agro Pocket, aimed at empowering 2,400 farmers across the state.

The ceremony took place at Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

The programme, which focuses on three major crops, rice, cassava, and maize, is designed to provide farmers with inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides.

Speaking at the event, Governor Dapo Abiodun emphasised the significance of the initiative, disclosing that 195 rice farmers, 81 maize farmers, and 216 cassava farmers in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area would benefit from the programme.

Abiodun who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture Mrs. Kehinde Jokotoye, acknowledged the efforts of both the federal and the state governments in providing this opportunity, encouraging farmers to maximise the inputs to ensure food security in the state.

“We should appreciate the federal government and ogun State government for putting this together to support this programme”, the governor said.

In his address, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Bolu Owotomo, urged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the programme, ensuring that none of the inputs are misused.
