Nigerians welcome 2024 with celebrations

As the hands of the clock sounded, tick-tock, reaching to hit the midnight hour mark, Nigerians were excited about the turn of the new year.

Many people shared their highlights for the just concluded 2023, hoping for a year free of challenges faced in the previous year.

Several changes came to place as the government changed power after the general election.

Some of these include the removal of the fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu during his May 29 inauguration ceremony and the ‘controversial’ redesigning of the naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria

Despite the hardships, both the government and the citizens remained optimistic that the new year would bring the needed relief.

Many citizens celebrated the New Year on Sunday night amid stunning firework displays, illuminating the skies across the nation’s atmospheric corridors.

As the rest of the world celebrates the New Year, Sydney was among the first major cities to ring in 2024, restacking its claim as the “New Year’s Eve capital of the world” amid stunning fireworks displays, adorning the skies over Australia’s Sydney Harbour and New Zealand’s tallest structure, the Sky Tower in Auckland.
